Both Canon as well as Nikon are top of the line brands. I believe they are used most commonly by professionals and are very popular. Between the two: they usually offer similar camera’s in the same price range (quality wise), and which one you buy will probably depend on personal preference. I would go to store and just handle a couple and see what you like best.
canon and nikon are both known for being good.
I recently bought a sony a200 and i have to say the results are amazing, i’d recommend it
Canon is best and it has long range of lenses and accessories
if u r going to study photography go for canon 50D atleast.

I would stick with either Canon or Nikon. Whichever you like best is fine. They both make excellent cameras, have a large collection of lenses and accessories and are the brands used by most pros.
The other reason I say to stick with them is that once you are in school most of your classmates will have one or the other. This will allow you to share equipment amongst each other.
